If you have chipped teeth or are unhappy with the shape of your teeth, veneers could be the answer to that perfect smile you’ve always wanted.
First, your dentist will remove a small amount of the tooth surface to permit placement of the veneer. Then an impression is taken of the tooth and sent to the dental laboratory. The dental veneer is then made to fit the tooth and mouth. Finally, the veneer is bonded to the tooth with resin cement.
They can cost anywhere from $800 to $2,000 per tooth, which can be a major expense for most patients. So it’s important to know they will need to be replaced eventually.
On average, veneers last about 10 years, and as dental porcelain becomes stronger and more durable, their lifespan may increase significantly over the next several years. Of course, veneers, like natural teeth, are still susceptible to damage.
